The Appeal Committee members consisted of four religious advisors and mufti (Muslim clerics), whereby three of them agreed that only a few scenes need to be cut but one of them totally disagreed to approve the film; therefore the film Fantasi was still banned. \\ \\ According to Wan Hassan, in a desperate attempt to save his production, the producer, Zain Mahmud, had gone to see the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Mahathir Mohamed.
