Asalnya sebuah ladang kopi, yang pernah terbengkalai sekitar 1902: //"In mentioning that Balgownie Estate, Selangor, has been closed down, and that this is the second European estate abandoned in Kajang alone, the "Malay Mail" advocates loans from the local Government to prevent this undesirable result. Ia kemudiannya ditanam getah dan digabungkan dengan Bangi Rubber Estates. Diuruskan oleh {{ :buku:10.2307_41493391.pdf ||}}[[https://www.jstor.org/stable/41493391|D.C.P. Kindersley]] (adik kepada [[ladang_kindersley|R.C.M. Kindersley]]): //"These estates, which are now worked as one property, belong to the Balgownie Rubber Estates, Ltd. Originally a coffee estate of 250 acres, the property at the present time embraces 1,027 acres, of which 650 acres are under rubber. The trees vary in age from six years to six months. Tapping was commenced in 1906, and the yield was about 11,000 lbs. It is estimated that the 1907-8 crop will produce 21,000 lbs. The manager of the estate is Mr. D.C.P. Kindersley, who has two assistants, Messrs. J.S. Cooper and P.K. Paul. Mr. Kindersley was engaged originally in planting coffee, and later rubber, in Negri Sembilan. He obtained his present appointment in 1905. The capital of the company owning the property is 200,000 dollars, of which there is issued 105,000 dollars. The directors are Messrs. W.M. Sime, V.R. Wickwar, and A.W. Beau, and the secretaries, Messrs. Gunn & Co., of Singapore."//

Laporan mesyuarat lembaga pengarah [[http://reader.library.cornell.edu/docviewer/digital?id=sea:233#page/451/mode/1up|Ladang Balgownie]], dipengerusikan oleh [[ladang_kindersley|R.C.M. Kindersley]]. Antara isu yang dibangkitkan ialah kesan penorehan getah berlebihan (overtapping) di Bangi, serta penutupan hospital ladang di [[rekoh|Reko]], setelah hospital Kajang dibuka kepada warga estet-estet (bangunan barunya telah pun siap dibina pada tahun 1910 (Hospital Kajang, 2016: {{ laman:sejarah_hospital_kajang.pdf ||}}[[http://hkjg.moh.gov.my/sejarah|"Sejarah"]])).
