Malangnya ribut melanda tidak lama selepas itu, dan beliau tidak dapat dikesan lagi. Gerakan pencarian dijalankan oleh ahli persatuan K.L. Flying Club, kemudiannya dibantu oleh tentera udara British. Beberapa orang saksi melaporkan beliau dilihat di sekitar Kajang, menuju Semenyih, seterusnya di estet [[sejarahbangi-1900-1909#getah_di_malaya|Prang Besar]] dan Ampar Tenang, juga di sekitar Mantin dan Sepang, menuju ke Seremban. Ada juga laporan mengatakan beliau dilihat di Port Swettenham dan Sri Menanti, Negeri Sembilan. Pencarian darat diteruskan oleh pihak polis dengan bantuan renjer hutan, pada mulanya ke arah hulu Sungai Klang dan Kuala Sleh. \\ **Bulatan biru**: Pencarian udara oleh KL Flying Club kemudiannya menemui beberapa batang pokok hutan yang kelihatan tercantas, di sekitar susuh bukit Ulu Langat dan Lembah Kenaboi. Pasukan pencarian digerakkan dari petempatan orang asli berdekatan setiap kawasan-kawasan tersebut. (Berdasarkan peta [[https://mapcarta.com/15816022|Mapcarta]]) ===== 1939-05-15: Juruterbang Ditemui ===== Mayat juruterbang ditemui hangus terbakar, masih di dalam bangkai pesawatnya, oleh sebuah pasukan kaum [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senoi|Sakai(Senoi)]], di pinggir sebuah gunung (2,000 kaki dari dasar laut) di dalam hutan belantara [[https://www.google.com/maps/place/Genting+Peres/|Gi(e)nting Peras]], 15 batu dari jalan Ulu Langat (14 jam perjalanan mengharungi hutan), di sempadan Selangor-Pahang. Ketika terhempas, pesawat tersebut terlanggar sebatang pokok [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shorea|meranti]] setinggi 50 kaki, yang terpatah dua lalu tertimpa pesawat tersebut. Registered as VR-RAN (C of R 17) 19.10.37 to Kuala Lumpur Flying Club. Written off (destroyed) 8.5.39 when caught in a storm, crashed and burnt out in jungle area, near Genting Peras, central Malaya, on the Selangor-Pahang border. Pilot - Ernest Littleton Hay (aged 36) - was killed. The search was originally called off on 11.5.39, (see link #5) but presumably restarted, and the body of the pilot recovered, as his funeral was held on 19.5.39 (see link #6).
